President, CEO, & Co-Founder

Steve first met his Co-Founder and SpeechVive inventor Jessica Huber when he was Managing Director of the Alfred Mann Institute at Purdue University (AMIPurdue). AMIPurdue began working with Jessica to develop her idea of a speech aid for people with Parkinson’s disease. Steve was enamored with Jessica’s vision to help people with Parkinson’s stay socially engaged with family and friends. Eighteen months into the project, Steve and Jessica licensed the technology from Purdue University and formed SpeechVive, Inc. Steve has over 25 years of experience in the medical device industry, specifically in sales, marketing, operations, and M&A.

Before AMIPurdue, Steve was VP of Sales & Marketing at Enpath Medical which sold to Greatbatch Medical for $102M in June 2007. Steve began his career with over 11 years at Smiths Medical and MedSource Technologies.

Jessica Huber

Dr. Jessica Huber, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Chief Science Officer, Inventor, & Co-Founder

Jessica is a Professor of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Associate Dean for Research in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue University. In recognition of her outstanding contributions that have made a significant impact on society, she was inducted as a fellow to the National Academy of Inventors in 2019.

Jessica’s research seeks to improve people’s quality of life with movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease. Jessica’s vision of “doing better” by using technology and research-based design to improve people’s lives with Parkinson’s disease was the catalyst for her invention of the SpeechVive device and the company’s subsequent founding with Steve Mogensen.

Dr. Huber serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at SpeechVive and is a member of the board of directors. In these roles, Dr. Huber is active in product development, business decisions, research, and publishing to ensure the company can continue its mission of improving the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease.

Brian Kopp

Brian Kopp

Chief Financial Officer

Brian has over 20 years of Healthcare industry experience, serving in leadership roles within Finance, Strategy, M&A, and Business Development at Eli Lilly and Company. Most recently, he was CFO and Vice President of Strategy and Operations for Elanco Animal Health. Since transitioning his career from corporate, he has consulted with a broad range of clients, particularly startup companies. He desires to make a difference in people’s lives in a way that can leverage his experiences.

Ashleigh Lambert

Ashleigh Lambert, M.S, CCC-SLP

Vice President of Clinical Development

Ashleigh has over 15 years of experience as a clinical speech-language pathologist evaluating and treating people with neurogenic disorders across various settings. She also served as a clinical trainer implementing best practices for interdisciplinary care for the neurogenic patient population.

At SpeechVive, Ashleigh connects clinicians to the research and clinical applications of the SpeechVive to improve outcomes for their patients.

Price Cleaver

Vice President of Sales

Price has 25 years of experience at Medtronic in the deep brain stimulation division. He brings a wealth of knowledge about Parkinson’s and, more importantly, has cultivated relationships throughout his career with movement disorder neurologists (MDS). While considering his exit from Medtronic, Price wanted to find something that would allow him to remain engaged in the Parkinson’s disease community. SpeechVive is the perfect fit.

John Ridge

John Ridge

Vice President of Reimbursement and Managed Care

John has over 20 years of managed care and reimbursement experience bringing new technologies to the market. He has worked with companies globally to successfully commercialize new products and was instrumental in successfully commercializing the Exact Sciences Cologuard test. At SpeechVive, he has advocated for coverage of the device as a unique and necessary communication technology.

Sean Connell

Sean Connell

Vice President of Technology

Sean Connell, Ph.D., currently serves as an active Board Member and the Vice President of Engineering for SpeechVive, Inc.

Dr. Connell is a biomedical engineer with an extensive background in business development, product design, and research. Before joining SpeechVive, he co-founded and served as the CEO of Bold Diagnostics, Inc.; a medical device company focused on the development of a cuffless blood pressure wearable enabling remote patient monitoring.

Further, Sean was also the co-founder of Medtric Biotech, LLC, and co-inventor of a novel nanoemulsion with wide-ranging antimicrobial applications in consumer healthcare industrial treatments. He previously served as a senior engineer for Becton Dickinson and Company, where he led the development of a novel microfluidics device to detect and isolate bloodstream infections as part of the BD BactecTM line of blood culture systems. He has also served as the principal investigator for several NSF SBIR grants, the lead author on numerous scientific publications, and the primary inventor for various utility and design patents.
